No, it is not for "corporation" or "company". At least not at the moment. If it is one day, it will be more of a BCorp, than a traditional company.
As usual, I created my own definition of Co. I have no idea if I have the authorization… I was telling you that it was all organic, instinctive. Well, that's exactly it! Now, let's stop rambling on and get back to Co.!
Co. is for two fundamental elements that will define my work in the coming years. Co., obviously, for collaborators. I want a lot of them, and really diverse ones: dreamers, funny, intense, discreet, circumspect, but above all courageous, fiery and daring. I want collaborators who are “on fire”, and don't have cold feet.
Co. too, for the love of Community. I want that too. Even more. A community of practice, a community of interests, a community of fun, of dance, whatever. I am a community builder. If I were an artist, “community building” would be the art that would define me.
For me, collective innovation (my professional specialization, a term to be defined in a future publication) can’t happen without these two ingredients: collaboration and community. A community can’t emerge or thrive without a spirit of collaboration, without commitment and mutual support and a common goal, without affection, compassion, interdependence, and interpersonal trust. As we know, behind every major change or transformation within a community we usually find a major collaborative effort involving many people. An innovative collective initiative or project, by definition, mobilizes the strengths and intelligence of all. Collaboration invites more horizontal relationships between the members of a community, more humility, because if responsibility is constantly shared, honors are also shared, since everyone is accountable for the results, successes and even occasional failures.
My pleasure in my professional mandates (but also in my personal life) is to foster the creation of a context that encourages the emergence of solidarity in the group, a sense of belonging to a community, and the building of a culture of collaboration. For me, a community that works well is a community that has energy and resilience. A self-determined community.
For this new chapter of my life, two valuable people are accompanying me on my journey to get off the ground and helping me in my professional transition. These are my first two "Co", the beginning of my community. My first "collaborators" whom I particularly like.
Louis Hanrahan, my mentor, strategic advisor for the English-speaking community of Quebec City, former Executive Director of the Jeffery Hale - Saint Brigid's Hospital, who guides me in my questioning, follows me in my crazy and ambitious ideas and in my professional decisions. It’s with him that I deconstruct and remake the world, that I learn and make my first steps in strategic consulting.
And Danièle Bienvenue, whom I affectionately call my "mômantor", coach and founder of Management Saavy, who shows me, with Vienna Bloom, her daughter, the path of facilitation, with such generosity, wisdom and simplicity. She welcomed me into her world last November for the Kaospilot training she was giving. We remained friends.
And there’s the community that is you, who without judging, engage with me as I reinvent myself, manage and experiment. And who all guide me a little in their own way.
Thank you.
